We have created a calm environment and can provide sensory aids and helpful guides to make your visit easier.

What is it for?
Our calm corner in reception is a quiet space for anyone who may feel overwhelmed or anxious.
It is designed to help people relax while waiting for their appointment.

We have some copies here at the surgery for guides you may be given on your visit.
Before your visit, you can read through these if you want to.

Sensory Aids
Some people feel worried or uncomfortable when waiting.
Please bring your own sensory aids if you have them. You may like to bring some, headphones, ear defenders, fidget toys or any other comfort items you may have.
We do have some sensory aids here, please ask at reception if you would like to use them.
The reception team will show you what is available.

Step by Step Guide to Arriving / What to Expect on your visit:
1. Outside the Building
Our surgery is on the left side of the building.
Look for our main entrance.
2. Go Left When You Enter
When you come inside, turn left.
You will see:
- Reception
- The car park pay machine
Please keep your parking ticket safe.
3. Reception Desk
You can go to reception when you arrive.
Reception staff can:
- Check you in for your appointment
- Help you if you need support
- Tell you if your appointment is running late.
4. Self Check-In Screens
You can also check in by yourself.
Use the screen and type:
- Your name
- Your date of birth
The screen will tell you:
- Who your appointment is with
- Then please sit in the waiting room.
5. Meet Our Team Screen
Next to the check-in screen you can see photos of our staff.
This shows:
- Who works at the surgery
- What their job is

6. Waiting Room
After you check in, go to the waiting room.
Please take a seat and wait for your name to be called.
7. Calm Corner
You can sit anywhere you like.
We also have a Calm Corner on the right side of the waiting room.
This space is quiet and relaxing.
8. Screen in the Waiting Room
There is a small screen in the waiting room.
The screen will show:
- Your name
- The clinician you will see
- The room number
9. Information TV
The TV shows health information and local activities.
It may show:
- Health awareness months
- Local services
- Feedback from patients
